Trend Forecast 2023: Neutrals & Dusted Pastels

As our world continues to move past the pandemic and we re engage with that which matters most, we return to finding our personal ways of stylistic expression. With that, our choice of apparel has become an essential communication tool; especially as it relates to COLOR. Color serves as a compelling symbol for self-expression, telling a story, revealing an identity, even simply setting a mood – with a sheer purple rose scarf or an insulated oatmeal tote. Serenity can be achieved through color; style can be communicated through simplicity.

This season, one of the prime focuses is on neutrals and dusted pastels. Transeasonal and timeless, neutral colors – such as green olive and volcanic ocean – are often associated with simplicity and balance.

Furthermore, tone-on-tone decoration provides a subtle way to display a logo or a brand name while providing an elevated feel. Stylish without being overt, these trending hues, in particular, are often associated with that grounded calming cool. The subdued colors commonly evoke a feeling of harmony, which is why they’re a favorite in a wide repertoire of categories – from apparel to home decor and accessory items.

With versatility across multiple product categories, dusted pastels – such as purple rose or clear sky –  are symbolic of the candidness and creativity we crave. Whether it’s through subtle accents of color or delicate monochromatic looks, these shades convey a sense of allure and wellness.

All in all, the hues of this season offer a versatile and classic palette, aesthetically pleasing and suitable for any activity – from yoga class to business conference. When you need a mood lift or sense of restorative balance, the understated elegance and seaside calm of a periwinkle or Irish cream is on par this season. Breathe in the watercolors.
